About
A PDF reader should be the quietest app on your computer.
CrescentPDF exists because reading a PDF shouldn't mean waiting, closing pop-ups, or paying to rotate a page.
How it started
Hi, I'm Mike. I use PDFs regularly for work, and every reader I tried was slow on big scans, kept asking me to sign in or upgrade, and hid simple tools behind a subscription.
I knew a PDF reader could be simpler and do much more, without charging anything. I never understood why the basics should cost money.
So I built the reader I wanted: one that opens a 500 MB scan in a fraction of a second, keeps every tool in the box, remembers where you were, and never interrupts.
It's free because a PDF reader is basic equipment, like a pen or a stapler. Donations keep it that way, with no ads, no paid tier, and an app that never tracks you.
And now I want to share it with you, for free.
Software you use all day should respect your time, your files, and your privacy.Mike, maker of CrescentPDF
My six promises
I'm making these for every version of CrescentPDF.
Free for everyone
Every feature, for every user. Donating never unlocks anything, because nothing is locked.
Never online
The app makes no connections, sends no usage data, and uses no cloud. Your documents stay on your computer.
No account
Install it and open a file. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to.
Your files, your call
Nothing is written until you press Save, and overwriting an original always asks first.
Quiet by design
No pop-ups, no upsells, no "rate us". The app will never ask you to donate, either.
Tested before it ships
Every release is checked for speed, stability and the safety of your files before it goes out.
What the CrescentPDF app will never do
- Show ads
- Sell or share your data
- Bundle other software
- Require an account
- Use your documents to train AI
- Lock features behind a paywall
- Upload your files
- Fill your screen with AI pop-ups
Made by one person, for everyone
I build and look after CrescentPDF myself. Questions, bug reports and ideas are always welcome.
